Using your Clery Data as a Strategic Planning Tool
Data can paint and tell a powerful narrative, but only if you know how to use it. While The Clery Act requires tracking and reporting crime incidents for your campus community, true campus safety requires us to understand the stories behind them. The ability to “read between the lines” of campus climate survey results, your daily crime log or the crimes statistics in your Annual Security Report is a useful practice for identifying emerging crime patterns and resource gaps. Recognizing trends early can help inform your advocacy, prevention programming, and victim support strategies. We’ll cover best practices to synthesize data into actionable strategies to prevent and respond to DVSAS and ensure resources are allocated where they are needed most. By attending this webinar grantees will be able to: 1. Analyze Clery statistics to identify crime patterns and trends relevant to DVSAS. 2. Illustrate data trends to support the creation or revision of their prevention and awareness programs. 3. Recommend resource allocation based on data assessments.
Rights & Resources Crafting the Written Notifications of Right and Options
The Clery Act requires that a comprehensive written explanation of rights and options be provided immediately to victims of dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking (DVSAS), regardless of whether the event took place on or off campus. When a student or employee discloses an experience of DVSAS, the institution’s initial response is a pivotal starting point in connecting survivors to systems of support. This webinar will guide attendees through the requirements of the written notification with a focus on creating a resource that builds trust and reduces re-victimization. Attendees will leave with practical steps for creating and implementing an efficient written notification process that is both compliant and ensures survivors receive the clear information they need to make informed decisions. By attending this webinar grantees will be able to 1.Identify the required elements of the written notification of rights and options 2.Outline campus and community resources that cover the full spectrum of supportive options available 3.Design a resource that is clear, and accessible to ensure the written notification empowers the survivors
